Four Sources Of Traffic For Your Pay Monthly Website
Getting visitors to your pay monthly website isn’t difficult. There are plenty of ways of doing it and I’ve listed below the four main ones. The thing to bear in mind however is gross visitor numbers are not the be-all and end-all. The quality of your traffic is far more important than the quantity – and traffic quality depends on a number of things and varies enormously, depending on the source.
This is one reason why paid traffic is almost always better quality and ultimately more profitable than so called ‘free traffic’ – because it’s generally more controllable and measurable.
Here are the four broad sources of traffic:
- Paid online advertising (Google Adwords, Facebook Ads etc.)
- ‘Free Traffic’ such as referrals from other websites including Search Engines, Social Media Sites, Articles and Forums
- Offline Sources such as Direct Mail, Press Ads or Articles
- Links in Emails – Usually your own emails but also from others who recommend your site to their list
The reason why ‘free traffic’ is a misnomer is because it isn’t really free. Search Engine Optimisation will take up lots of your valuable time and the results are completely unpredictable. Even if you do manage to achieve a decent ranking, there is no certainty that you will retain that ranking when the search engines inevitably change their algorithms.
Conversely, paid traffic is predictable, scaleable and most importantly, measurable. Ultimately, like any form of advertising, all that matters is the return on investment.
